After another wonderful year of banding it is time to say goodbye to our Musical Director and his family as they take off across the Bass Strait for greener pastures in Tasmania. Michael Mathers has been the Musical Director at the City of Greater Dandenong Band for the last eight years. During that time he has brought his family into the Dandenong Band family, with his wife Nicole serving on committee for a number of years and helping out in the Band as needed, and his two younger daughters Maddi and Hannah playing and singing with Dandenong Band and Springvale Brass respectively. The City of Greater Dandenong Band would like to thank Mick, and the whole Mathers family, for their years of dedication to our Band.

Looking ahead to the New Year, we are thrilled to welcome Jamie Lawson as our new Musical Director. Jamie comes to us with many years of experience and expertise as a brass instructor, musical director, principal-cornetist, and cornet soloist. We feel very excited and privileged to have him on board. Our 2019 program is already shaping up to be another big year for the Band, so watch this space!
